Understanding Acne Scars — and How We Treat Them

We also use the Q-switch Nd:YAG laser to address the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) that frequently accompanies acne scars on Indian skin; without treating this discolouration alongside the structural scar, results are incomplete. For patients with rolling scars or those who need a gentler approach, microneedling with radiofrequency (MNRF) delivers controlled thermal energy deep into the dermis without affecting the outer skin surface, making it one of the safest options for darker skin tones. Medical-grade chemical peels — salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or TCA in appropriate concentrations — serve as adjunctive treatments, improving overall skin texture and evening tone between laser sessions.
